Some Microsoft users who wanted to install the latest security updates which were released late Tuesday must have been surprised to realize that the patch could not be installed manually. Microsoft yesterday, disabled the download link on its website after they had been informed about the problems. Meanwhile Microsoft has released a new version for the update which fixes a 'critical' problem in Internet Explorer, which allows potential attackers to gain complete control over PCs. It is recommended to update the security patch immediately since exploits, malicious software making use of this vulnerability, have been published on the internet already, as German IT-publisher heise.de reports.
