Yahoo has patched two security holes in a new version of Yahoo Messenger, which can be downloaded now. The patched leaks allowed attackers to donwload an executable program disguised as a  picture, which is executed when trying to view the picture. Another bug allowed to place a program on the computer if Yahoo Messenger runs with restricted privileges. Since this program is executed with the current user privileges when rebooting the system, it may have administror privileges allowing to harm the computer. Both bugs should be regarded as high risk and hence it is recommended to upgrade to the  patched version.
