Tuesday already, Microsoft published three security patches as part of their monthly security campaign ?path day'. Information available on the Microsoft website classifies the fixed bugs as critical with high damage potential. The List of affected operating system not only includes Windows XP but also older versions of Windows and Server-Systems. The bugs are affecting software like the built in web browser Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office products like Microsoft Word. The security holes allow potential attackers to gain administrator privileges and thus gain control of the computer to inject malware or execute code. The bugs can be taken advantage of through the web. Demo-exploits are available since June already, and the bugs are being actively exploited already, German IT-publisher heise.de reports.
