Only two days after security experts of Venustec have reported on a security hole in the open-source office suite OpenOffice, the programming teams have fixed the problem, heise.de reports.

This is probably one of the quickest alert-responses, and shows the dedication of open-source projects to security.

Red Hat Inc., vendor of RedHat Linux has already released new packages for Linux; other Linux vendors will certainly soon follow. The OpenOffice developer team has released a security patch for Windows, Mac OS, Solaris and Linux that fixes the problem:
