Symantec: Increase of malicious software

Symantec's Security Threat Report noted an increase of spyware, phishing e-mails and spam in for the second half of 2004.

The percentage of spyware is said to have risen from 36 to 54 percent. Heise online reports, that the number of phishing e-mails increased by 366 percent and that of spam mails by 77 percent. According to the report, the number of new Windows viruses and worms increased to 7360, which corresponds to an increase of 64 percent compared to the first half of that year.
