New module for across Language Server addresses needs of exporting companies, the company informs.

From April 16 to 19, 2007, across Systems will present the new proofreading client crossWeb at the AIIMexpo in Boston, MA, in the GALA Language Technology Pavilion (booth 2235), the company announced in a press release two days ago. The new client gives external proofreaders or employees direct access to the across Language Server for web-based review and commenting of translations.

The across Language Server is a central software platform for all corporate language resources and for controlling translation processes and workflows. This product is especially suitable for enterprises operating on an international scale, from medium-sized companies to large corporations, from machine engineering companies to software manufacturers.

Due to large-scale outsourcing to translation service providers and the deployment of native speakers as translators, networking across company boundaries is a standard feature in this sector. For this purpose, across offers the collaboration tool crossGrid, which enables industrial customers to engage in server-to-server exchange of entire projects with their translation service providers. Regardless of their location, the individual translators can access the centrally managed resources by way of LAN or WAN clients. Among other things, the range of utilities includes a translation memory and a terminology system for recycling and standardizing recurring phrases from the past.

Niko Henschen, General Manager of across, explains the significance of the new web client in the across product portfolio as follows: "The user works in his usual browser and does not need to install any additional software on his computer. This approach is especially convenient for those who are only marginally involved in the translation process, such as product managers, but who are still directly integrated in the process through this web client. With its Language Server, across features networked operations and open interfaces, thereby playing a leading role in the integration of web technologies in the translation process."

About across

across Systems GmbH (www.across.net), headquartered in Karlsbad near Karlsruhe, Germany, is the manufacturer of the across software solution for Corporate Translation Management (CTM). The company is a spin-off of Nero AG.

The across Language Server is a central software platform for all corporate language resources and for controlling translation processes and workflows. The system simplifies, accelerates, and improves the management, coordination, and implementation of translations. The software includes a translation memory, a terminology system, and powerful project management and translation workflow control tools. Product managers, translators, and proofreaders all work in one system, either in-house or via a seamless connection to translation service providers.

The target group includes all who offer or commission professional translations, such as export-oriented medium-sized enterprises, language service departments of international corporations, and professional translation service providers. By using across, translation costs can be cut drastically, and the investment in across usually pays off in a very short time.
