In a newsletter, SDL Inc., leading software vendor for the translation industry and third largest language service provider according to Common Sense Advisory's Top 20 LSP ranking yesterday announced the pre-release of computer assisted translation (CAT) tool SDL Trados 2007.

SDL bought former arch-rival TRADOS of Germany in 2005 and merged the two technologies thereafter.

The latest version of SDL Trados is scheduled for March 2007 and, according to the newsletter, provides "full SDL Trados compatibility". SDL Trados 2007 can be pre-ordered through translationzone.com. Customers who pre-order will benefit from

  • New file preparation wizard to create projects in less time
  • New dashboards to track all of your projects in one central location
  • New powerful quality assurance checks to cut your review time in half
  • New filters to accept more project work
  • New support for Microsoft Office 2007 and Vista
  • New full compatibility with your customers

SDL Trados 2007 will be officially released in March 2007. Special pricing for pre-orders is available from www.translationzone.com. You will immediately receive SDL Trados 2006, and will be automatically updated to SDL Trados 2007 when it officially launches in March.

Pre-orders will be accepted until the end of February.
