As part of the EU-expansion the number of official EU-languages is going to increase to 23 on 01.January 2007, when Bulgaria and Romania officially join the EU. This date also Gaelic ascends to the status of official EU-languages. As a result, language service providers offering these languages can expect a growing demand for their services. Not only do official documents then need to be translated into all official languages, now including the three new languages, but also the private sector will profit from this expansion. According to current legislation, EU-wide patents, for instance, are required to be translated into all languages of the EU-member states to become effective. |
