Supports Localization Certification Program at CSU, Chico

Seattle, Wash. - (March 15, 2006) - GALA, the Globalization and Localization Association, has just launched a new Career Services Center offering an on-line resume database and improved job postings features. This new resource marks one more way that GALA is showing support for the growing localization industry.

The Career Services Center on GALA's Web site was developed to support professionals emerging from the new localization certification program organized by The California State University, Chico, in partnership with GALA and the Localization Institute. The new Career Services Center will serve as a meeting place for students of the Cal State program and current localization professionals to connect with companies looking to hire. Member companies will be able to search the profiles of experienced industry professionals as well as students seeking to enter the localization world. Industry professionals worldwide are invited to register their resumes with the site; however, only GALA members and companies participating in the CSU recruiting fair will have access to those resumes. Anyone visiting the site can search for job postings.

"GALA is proud to support the development of this unique educational initiative in the localization industry. Given the worldwide shortage of localization talent, our members will directly benefit from this program and the Career Services Center," said Christiane Bernier, GALA board member and Manager of Canada Operations for Lionbridge.

Part one of the new localization certification program will be an extensive on-line instruction module. Participants will take 46 hours of coursework geared towards an understanding of localization concepts related to conducting international e-business. Not only are students interested in entering the localization and global marketing fields encouraged to enter the program, but the supporting organizations have placed an emphasis on the program's ability to further educate those professionals who are already in the industry.

Part two of the program will take place this summer (June 20-22nd) with 24 additional hours of instruction in a three-day workshop. Here students will be learning from top industry leaders and gain hands-on lab experience with localization tools. In conjunction with the program, there will be a career placement service available, which includes a private room where companies can search GALA's new Career Services Center's resume database and conduct interviews with students from the program.

The online Career Services Center is live as of March 13th on the GALA Web site at www.gala-global.org.

Enrollment is now open for the Localization Certification Program. The registration fee is US$ 895 for those who enroll on or before April 5, 2006. To enroll, please visit http://www.csuchico.edu/localize or call CSU, Chico Continuing Education, 530-898-6105/530-898-6090.
