In an article published yesterday in The China Post, translator Carmen Russell recommends NJStar as a useful tool for translators. "While translation software simply cannot be relied on, they may often prove to be useful tools for translators. You can often get the gist of a text by running it through a translator or a few key words," she writes. Russel suggests NJStar Chinese Word Processor for its convenience and ease of use, which principally works like a regular word processor, but allows input of Chinese characters. For her, "the most useful feature is, of course, the English-Chinese dictionary. Put in a full Chinese word, a single character, or a word in English, and it provides as many entries containing the entry as it has. The significant advantage over the translation software is that it offers a variety of options for words that have different translations." Another interesting NJStar product, according to Carmen Russel, is NJStar Chinese Pen which turns your mouse into a pen in which you can write characters. "Two seconds after the character is complete, the software enters it into text form into whichever PC application you are using. It is impressively accurate and an optional feature will pronounce the character giving you it's reading at the same time." Free demo versions of all the above programs are available for download at www.njstar.com. Source: China Post |
