The University of Texas at Arlington is starting a new Spanish-English Medical Translation program, the Universit's student publication The Shorthorn reports. The degree program is offered in conjunction with the University of North Texas and represents the first and only program in the U.S. to prepare students for positions as professional health interpreters. The program, starting next week, will include on-site practice in translation. The establishment of the program was supported by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation with the goal to facilitate clinical interpretation and on-site interpretation for Spanish-speaking patients. UNT/UTA are accepting student applications for the fall semester. Source: The Shorthorn |
