In a press release Munich-based linguatec GmbH, expert for translation technology, informed about a strategic cooperation with the Swiss-based Text-to-Speech specialist SVOX AG, which enabled linguatec to now offer its Personal Translator with a natural voice output.

"As a globally leading enterprise in this sector, SVOX offers a Text-to-Speech- (TTS) technology with a ground-breaking quality and thus the company ideally suplements the translation technology of the Personal Translator 2006 Pro, with an international patent pending," the press release informs. This technology converts written text into a natural and understandable spoken language. Volker Jantzen, CEO of SVOX AG, points out that by now human voices can hardly be distinguished from synthetic voices since they had a natural sound when it comes to the intonation of words and sentences.

The Personal Translator enables users to listen to and check source texts as well as translations in German, English and French in an "outstanding quality".
