Microsoft Patchday: Three critical updates

Tuesday was 'Patchday' and Microsoft released a total of nine updates for the Windows operating systems. Three of the nine patches are considered critical, four others "high risk". The patches shall fix problems in Windows core components including DirectX, Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) and COM+, ActiveX-Handling in Internet Explorer and the Plug&Play services, which may enable attackers to gain complete control of the PC. As German publisher heise.de reports, Microsoft has also released a new version of the Malware Removal Tool, which shall help to clean infected systems. All patches can be downloaded manually or by making use of the Windows Update services. Since seven out of the then new updates are considered high or critical risk, it is recommended to immediately update your system.
